PM Opens Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center In Purbachal

Premier Sheikh Hasina on Thursday officially inaugurated the new Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Expo Center (BBCFEC) located in the its outskirts of the capital Purbachal with the intention of organising trade fairs with the most modern and permanent facilities.

The premier inaugurated the center which is located just a few steps away from the official home of Ganabhaban BSS reports. BSS.

The centre for exhibitions will serve as the permanent location for various fairs based on products during the entire year. the Project Director Mohammad Rezaul Karim told BSS on Wednesday.

Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) took on an BBCFEC Construction Project in Purbachal New City Project Area using co-financing by Bangladesh and China the official said.

China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) has constructed the exhibition center on land that covers 26 acres.

The project director stated that the BBCFEC comprises 33,000 square metres of floor space. The space houses two exhibition halls with 15,418 square m each. They have space to accommodate more than 800 exhibits.

The contemporary exhibition center has an in-house water treatment plant and control room for CCTV, WiFi internet connection as well as a modern fountain. parking spaces, a the entrance gate is controlled remotely the director said.

In the presence of the Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi as the host, Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Vice Chairman AHM Ahsan delivered the welcome message.

Chinese Embassy for Bangladesh Li Jiming and Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh also addressed the audience at BBCFEC.

A documentary about the growth of Bangladesh and BBCFEC was shown during the event.

As of now, EPB is planning to stage this year's 26th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) at the BBCFEC since it has been given the green light.

The commerce ministry has been asked for the event, according to officials who are who are familiar with the procedure.

DITF has been held for 25 times in the last 25 years at Sher-e-Banglanagar located in Dhaka.

The government decided to move the fair from Purbachal, in order to avoid the intense traffic jams during the DITF period in Sher-e-Banglanagar which is where the most important government offices are situated.
